MAINTENANCE
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE (essential for a healthy deck)
It is imperative, normal and easy to maintain one's deck, just like one does one's body & clothing!
AT SEA
Cleaning can be done directly using seawater. Sea salt is an excellent cleaning agent for SEACORK®! Use bucket and hard brush.
IN PORT
Most traditional cleaning products may be used to clean Seacork. DO NOT USE PRESSURED WATER (type Kärcher)!!! It allows you to space out sanding operations, ensuring that your surface stays in good condition, for longer. Cleaning is done with a hard brush and in accordance with the detergent's manufacturer instructions.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Make up the mixture in a bucket in accordance with the detergent's manufacturer instructions and apply with a brush onto your dry Seacork surface. Leave it to work for 10 minutes before scrubbing again. Rinse thoroughly. An interesting alternative to brushing is to scratch with a Scotch Brit sponge. The surface will regain some of its golden tints!
ONCE-OFF MAINTENANCE
After time, the surface may become dull and/or smooth. It may then be necessary to restore it by lightly sanding it down. This can be done with an orbital sander, 80 grit sandpaper, which will remove the top layer of the SEACORK® (max 0.3mm/300µ). Once the sanding has been completed it is necessary to use the finishing product, in order to seal the cork, which has just been opened up by the sanding. Your SEACORK will return to its beautiful golden finish just like when you first got it! Take care not to walk on the surface before ensuring it is completely dry. (20mn to 40mn).
